Product Questions

What is the difference between Infant Formula and Follow-on Formula?

NatraStart™ Infant Formula (Stage 1) is suitable for 0-6 month infants to meet the special dietary needs of newborn babies.

NatraStart™ Follow-on Formula (Stage 2) is suitable from 6 – 12 months of age when it is recommended that infants be offered foods in addition to this formula.

These formulas are specially formulated with high quality ingredients and essential nutrients.

Where does your milk come from?

All of our milk used in our products is from Australian dairy farms. The vast majority of our milk is sourced from within Victoria.

How are your cows fed and do they take supplements?

Our cows are fed a natural grass diet. Only if seasonal variations lead to lowered quality and amount of grass available, would our cows be fed a supplemented diet to ensure the cows have adequate feed.

Do you have Docosahexaenoic Acid (DHA) or Arachidonic Acid (ARA) in your formula?

Yes, they are both present in all 3 products. Please refer to the Nutrition Information table for exact values.

General Care Questions

What's the daily intake for your formula?

For Stage 1 and 2 refer to the feeding guide stated on the product label.

For our Stage 3 product one serve equals 200 mL. However, intake depends on age, appetite and amount of other foods. We also recommend for formula to be given after meals so as not to dull appetite for other important foods.

What is an allergy?

An allergy is an immune response by the body to a substance to which it has become hypersensitive. Cow's milk contains both whey and casein proteins which can cause allergy. Symptoms vary but can include skin reactions, respiratory symptoms or gastrointestinal symptoms. For more information, please consult your healthcare professional.

What is lactose intolerance?

Lactose is a natural sugar found in the milk of all mammals, including human, cow and goat's milk. Lactose intolerance is the inability to digest this type of sugar, and may produce symptoms such as excessive wind, bloating and abdominal discomfort, watery diarrhoea and scaled buttocks.

For more information regarding lactose intolerance, please consult your healthcare professional.

How long can I keep a feed for once I have made it?

A freshly made formula can be kept in the refrigerator for up to 24 hours. Any unused feeds should be discarded after this time. Once the feed has started to be consumed, any unfinished formula should be discarded.

How do I warm up a bottle of formula?

The best way to warm up the formula is to have the bottle standing in warm water. Do not heat for more than 10 minutes as bacteria may grow, causing potential illness for the baby and the formula may become too hot for them to consume. A bottle warmer can also be used, however it is not recommended to use a microwave. Microwaves can heat unevenly and lead to your baby's mouth getting burnt.

How do I prepare formula for when I'm out and about?

The safest way to prepare formula when you are out, is to take the prepared water (water that has been boiled for 5 minutes and then allowed to cool) in a sterilised bottle and formula powder in a separate sterilised container, then mix together when needed.
